With just under 11,600 inhabitants, Kall is a tranquil place. Nevertheless, this small town has plenty of stories to tell. A glance into the past reveals that the history of the villageof "Call", as it was officially spelled until the twentieth century, dates back to prehistoric times. Even then, the area that is now the town was inhabited and settled by humans. Kall was first mentioned in documents in 1238

In addition to the Celts, who mined lead ore here in the third century BC, the Romans also played a formative role in the early history of the town: they occupied the area for almost 500 years. This can still be seen today in various places in the municipality of Kall: the Roman aqueduct, which crossed what is now Kall on its approximately 100-kilometre journey from the northern Eifel to the provincial capital of Cologne. The first stage of the Roman Canal Hiking Trail, which was created in 1988 and modernised in 2012, leads from Nettersheim to the district of Kall-Dottel – and provides background information about the impressive large-scale structure along the way.
Apart from the Roman canal, there are no other clues as to what life and everyday routines were like in the Roman settlement. However, it can be assumed that the inhabitants lived from agriculture, livestock breeding and forestry. It is also likely that the Romans mined lead and later iron ore in what is now the municipal area. In Kall, the Roman Road Adventure Route runs along well-maintained, barrier-free cycle paths.
